Sushi Ichi in Vancouver Island

The food was good and the servers were nice and did excellent for how busy it was but it was extremely busy so it was almost an hour wait from the time we ordered. Also they charge for tea which no other Japanese restaurant I have been to has ever charged for tea.

Delicious!. Friendly staff, clean restaurant. A little pricey though.

Have been coming here for many years! Amazing friendly efficient staff! The young female waitress is soooo sweet and great at her job. Clean and comfortable spot. Sushi is excellent as is the miso soup with spinach and tofu and the tuna tataki is to die for. Motoyaki oysters are incredible. Fair pricing. Nice and fresh. Japanese Food Perfection!

Sushi is not fresh, very overpriced and an inauthentic menu. This place is so poorly managed and understaffed. Two servers are usually working on their busiest nights. You have to wait so long for service.

The Sushi was great and the service was excellent. Try the Parksville Rolls as well as the Volcano. This place is always busy so be patient

We love dining here. Very authentic and the best Miso around 💞. It can get very busy so I recommend a reservation. Prices are great.

This review is in two parts: one for service and one for food. Food review: the food was okay. Nothing special. I think coming from Vancouver where we have so many good and excellent Japanese places, we are spoiled. The sunonomo salad was bland and had almost no taste. I am used to the stronger vinegar like taste. Spicy tuna was anything but. The yakitori was awesome as was the karrage. The special toll was nice too. The rest of the food, and we ordered a lot, was just average. Over all the food was a 3/5. Service review: WOW! Our server was amazing. Kind, helpful, attentive. She was awesome. Service at this place gets a 5/5 without a doubt.

Ordered take out from this restaurant. Ordered chicken teriyaki dinner. Worst I’ve ever had. Not sure what it was. Didn’t look like chicken and the mystery noodle was awful. Ended up tossing most of this meal. As well the dinner came with zero extras such as miso soup or salad Blah tasting and unidentifiable

Very cheap, can get a well balanced and reasonably portioned meal for less than $10. Sushi is reasonably priced, even the most expensive rolls are within reason given the contents. Consistently good service from the waiting staff. Food is fresh, delicious and very well presented.

Great atmosphere, excellent food (they have the only Yellowtail nigiri I've been able to find in BC), and reasonable prices for their food. Even with a 16 piece appetizer and 3 people, the meal only came to just over 60 bucks.

I was a huge customer away for 2 yrs came back to dry salad no dressing.Portions smaller at room temperature and prices up by 25 % the most pleasant part of the order was the young pleasant server who took my order. $ 83.00 later never again I will pay that to Sam's Sushi . You taught him and he has excelled in quality and fairness of price. SO SAD

This my favorite sushi restaurant in parksville.been going for years .the chef is awesome and sitting at the sushi bar is so much fun.try their tuna tataki it is so good. Great place and dinning tables for larger groups.friendly staff.

Always been a great place for sushi. Im little biased as i use to work here in high-school. But honestly great food and Nobu is an amazing chef. My fav part of working there would be when a customer asked him to make anything. He would come back in the kitchen and make up some amazingly creative dishes.

Great YUMMY SUSHI. Its fresh and it comes fast. The Miso soup is exceptional! The coconut shrimp is addictive Soo watch out!! Consider yourself warned. The service is AWESOME!! I'd come back just for that shrimp.

The food was yummy here we sat on the patio and it even though it was right beside the road you could barely tell because of the plants they have. Our server was really nice

I've had better sushi from chevron gas stations. Took 30 mins for miso soup and 60 mins for the rest of our food, avocado was rock hard and inedible, very dry rice, and 1 person in our group of 4 never got any of his order. Very bad never again.

I love this place but it really is hit-or-miss because they are so incredibly busy and understaffed. So if you happen upon a time where everyone decides to go for dinner and there's only one person trying to work the whole restaurant, then you are going to wait. And wait some more.The food has usually been consistently good. However my last take out the tuna was slightly off and not edible. Because I had to wait almost 40 minutes for my takeout order, I didn't bother to go back.That said, I've been there on other nights and it has been quite Stellar.Just a classic case of a small town was not enough people to hire for staff.

Excellent sushi at a reasonable price. I like that they have a Sushi bar where you watch the chefs create the fresh, tasty offerings. Cozy seating area with great ambience if you just want to enjoy your food with friends. Friendly, welcoming staff.

Food is more at excellent given the choice of ingredients available. Chef Nobu care about the customer experience as well as the quality of food...one must learn to appreciate the attention to the inner details of flavour in order to appreciate the quality......most excellent sushi I have so far....way recommended!

It's starting to go downhill. Last night, my salmon sashimi had bones in it! It's the first time that has happened to me, ever! There are better options in town now, and Qualicum. I won't come back unless it's the only place open.

This is the best traditional sushi on Vancouver island. Balanced and fresh. Rice is perfect and not heavy.

Visited Parksville for the first time and enjoyed this gem of a place. The fish was fresh, rolls were tasty and the portions were generous and the food was prepped by Japanese chefs. I'm here for 3 days and may eat here everyday!

Horrible customer service. Just wanted to order some takeout. I wasn't even ackowledged for first 10 mins of walking in. Finally had one waitress who did, only to tell me she had to put some other orders in, and then she would help me. Okay great. She never came back. Totally ignored me and helped her other customers instead! I walked out. They will never receive my business.....ever. Terrible service.

If I could describe it one simple way. It would be that if I had to request my single and last dinner to enjoy before the impending. I would request an all you can eat night out at Sushi Ichi. Their sushi is absolutely to die for! Hopefully not literally in your situation, but if it is, then it's definitely well worth the choice to eat here! I have eaten sushi all across Canada and in different countries even. This is by far the best flavor, freshness, simple food presentation, but amazing quality in flavor and freshness of ingredients.

Been here twice before. Both times it took extremely long for the food to come out. The sushi I had didn't taste fresh at all. Servers were quite friendly, however, the food took way too long and wasn't fresh.

Great sushi! I was starting to lose all faith in sushi on Van Isle. It seems like most places all serve the bland generic rolls covered in sweet eel sauce. Not here, amazing flavors that come from only true practitioners of the craft. Best miso, tempura, salads and rolls that I've literally had in years. Wonderful, friendly service. Great experience, we will be back!

Good sushi for a decent price. Friendly service and fairly fast, though maybe avoid coming around 6 because it gets extremely busy. By seven however, the crowd disappears.
